Palo Alto Drought-Tolerant Garden

A colorful mixture of California natives and mediterranean favorites were selected for this entry garden. The site is dominated by clay soils, and as part of the design a berm was added to provide better drainage. | ||

An evergreen tree, Arbutus 'Marina' was selected to provide shade and screening. Yellow Asteriscus maritimus, red Penstemon gloxinioudes, Idaho Fescue, Cercis occidentalis, and Penstemon heterophyllus are some of the featured species. | ||

The design includes three custom wood raised planter beds for growing annual vegetables. A soaker drip system was installed with a shutoff valve for each bed.
